The purpose of this paper is to analyse phraseological units of the Tatar language that reflect the emotional state of fear; to study semantic and anthropocentric organization of phraseological units. The object of the analysis is phraseological units of the Tatar language reflecting the state of «fear». Relevance. The study of phraseology makes it possible to identify national-specific features in the language picture of the world of different peoples, in particular, the idea of significant human emotions, in this case representatives of the Tatar linguoculture. Methodology. The empirical material was collected by a continuous sampling method from the phraseological dictionary of the Tatar language. Methods of semantic and component analysis were used to analyze the collected material. Results. The analysis demonstrates that the emotional state of fear in Tatar linguoculture is one of the basic mental concepts involved in the cognitive and emotional development of the surrounding reality. To characterize the emotional state of fear in the Tatar language, phraseological units with the somatic code of culture are most often used. Also, zoonyms are a frequent the figurative basis of phraseological units of the Tatar language. Practical implications. The results of the research can be applied for lexicographic practice, in particular, for compiling a dictionary-thesaurus of Tatar phraseological units. In addition, the research materials can be used in the development of courses on phraseology, lexicology, and linguoculturology at the philological faculties of universities.
