Legal Library in a Globalized World: Aspects of Corporate Interaction

Abstract

The article describes activities of information centers in legal area - law libraries, law colleges, publishers, specialized information and analytical services. The article also describes basic types of corporate interaction of legal information centers - associations and consortia of Law Libraries. The most active corporate association of Law Libra-ries, identified common challenges for implementation of which their activity is directed were studied. Activities of specialized associations as organizing information structure on implementation of mediation functions between the members of professional communications, meeting users’ specific needs were analyzed. The conclusion is that the Association of Law Libraries, besides its traditional function of storing and providing access to legal information, intends to promote global cooperation of libraries and other institutions and organizations involved in maintenance of international cooperation in the scope of law librarianship on the non-profit basis.
