The article shows the characterization of geometric reasoning levels applied to the concept of derivative in a sample of 40 students of secondary education, in which the different levels are described, determined and compared, the research showed that it is possible to apply the levels of Geometric reasoning. Conclusion: Van Hiele model allows to evaluate the level of geometric reasoning in which the students of secondary education are located regarding the concept of derivative.
