This article is devoted to some aspects of marriage among Muslims of the Volga-Ural region in the late 19th – early 21st centuries. Traditionally, marriage has been studied based on the materials of ethnographic research, eyewitness testimony, and elements of material culture associated with wedding customs (costume and gift complex). The presented work is an attempt to examine marriage through quantitative and qualitative indicators recorded in Muslim metric registers. The section on marriages records acts of civil status in the legal field of the Sharia law and the legislation of the Russian Empire, representing the conditions under which a young lady moves from her father's house to her husband's house.
