The impact of foreign direct investment and financial development on economic growth from ASEAN countries period 1995-2014

Abstract

This paper investigates the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) and financial development on economic growth in ASEAN countries.The paper also investigates the impactofthe interaction between FDIand financial development on economic growth. Data from 8 ASEAN countries (Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Laos, and Cambodia) over the period 1995 -2014 are collected fromthewebsite of Word Bank. The results show that FDI promoteseconomic growth.Meanwhile, financial development has negative effects on economic growth of the countries. However, financial development does not influence the relationship between FDI and economic growth
