CENTRAL FEMALE CHARACTERS FROM VERISTIC OPERAS IN THE REPERTOIRE OF THE MARIA BIESU NATIONAL OPERA AND BALLET THEATER FROM CHISINAU
Abstract
Veristic operas occupy an important place in the repertoire of the Maria Bieșu National Opera and Ballet Theater in Chisinau. The following operas are played regularly: Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni; Pagliacci by Ruggiero Leoncavallo; La Bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly and Turandot by Giacomo Puccini; Adrianna Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea. The roles of female leads in the verist operas staged in Chisinau were played by vocalists at the beginning of their careers, as well as great personalities, such as Elena Obrazțova — Russia (Santuzza), Maria Nistor Slătinaru — Romania (Santuzza), Veronica Tello — Spain (Mimi), Nicoletta Mayer — Romania (Mimi), Olga Busuioc — Germany (Mimi). More examples include: 2010 — Olga Perrier — France (Cio-cio-san), 2012 — Tatiana Anisimova — Ukraine (Cio-cio-san), 2017 — Ina Loss-USA (Cio-cio-san), etc. Among the soloists of the Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theater who have created powerful female roles, both from the acting point of view and the vocal interpretation, we can name: Tamara Ciornaia, Valentina Calestru, Liliana Lavric (Santuzza); Anastasia Buruiană, Oxana Cobzev, Rodica Picereanu (Nedda); Angela Pihut, Anastasia Cusnir (Mimi); Valentina Calestru (Turandot) etc. Evidently, the great Moldovan singer of international value — Maria Bieșu — manifested her talent and professionalism in all the female roles of veristic works.
