Validity, Reliability and Factor Analysis of the Social Competence Scale in Primary School students in ahvazThe purpose of the present study was to examine the factor structure of social competence scale Cohen and Rosmen (1972) for school-aged children. The population in this study was all of the elementary school students who are studying in 1391-92 academic year in Ahvaz. From this population 250 students were selected using multi-stage random sampling method. To evaluate the adequacy of the model chi-square index (χ2), relative to Chi-square degrees of freedom (2χ/df)), comparative fit index (CFI), the root mean square standardized residue (RMSEA), and the relative fitness index (RFI) has been used. Confirmatory factor analysis results indicate that the two-factor model had an acceptable fit to the data. Also, Cronbach's alpha and split half coefficients indicated that the scale has good reliability.Keywords: social competence scale, factor structure, elementary school students, validity and reliability.
