The article defines a sense of shame according to national and foreign researchers and specifies the main difference of visions of shame. On the basis of theoretical analysis, the main individual typological features of shame, its factors and potential factors, the basic psychological structures of the person that may be associated with this feeling and may vary depending on the level of shame are identified: self-esteem, personality traits, emotional manifestations, attitudes of others and emotions directed to oneself. A constructed research model that includes the components of shame and its potential factors is presented. On the basis of this model, the research toolkit was chosen; its structure and data analysis features were described. The differentiation of the sample into three groups according to the power of a sense of shame was carried out. On the basis of the empirical research, the main psychological peculiarities that distinguish individuals with a high level of shame are identified. The components of self-esteem, leading emotions and personality traits playing a major role in this are determined. There is a statistically significant difference between groups, depending on the level of shame (low, medium, high) and other psychological characteristics of the indivi-dual. The description of the personality and its main features, which can lead to a person’s tendency to an intense sense of shame, even in more neutral situations, is described
