A fala do retorno do sagrado aponta, quando pensado de forma fundamental, para uma problemática além do horizonte sociológico. Porque não, então, reler um dos clássicos da literatura sobre o sagrado, o teólogo Rudolf Otto? Porque não tentar decifrar os textos tardios do pensador Heidegger com as suas alusões freqüentes ao sagrado como pista dos deuses desertados? Pois, é curioso que o programa cognitivo das ciências modernas chega, nas suas contribuições mais inovadoras, aos resultados que parecem confrontar- nos (de novo) com um mundo estranho, paradoxal e antinómico - características que apresenta Otto como atribuições do numinoso. O que tudo isto tem a ver com a técnica, a sociedade moderna e a sociologia? It is curious that the cognitive programme of modern sciences guide us to some results which seems to confront a strange, paradoxal and antinomical world, with its inovating contribution to this change.
