Positive psychology, since its creation, has been responsible for the study of subjective well-being and optimism with the aim of improving the quality of life of the population. In this work, a narrative bibliographic review was carried out about the relationship between subjective well-being and optimism in the population of older adults. Subjective well-being is a health protection factor, which involves experiencing pleasant moods. On the other hand, optimism is defined as a generalized expectation that positive and not negative events will occur. It is also considered a health protective factor. This topic was investigated based on the analysis of a total of 9 scientific articles, published in the last 15 years. From this review, it has been concluded that both optimism and subjective well-being play an important role in successful aging. It was also found that there is a positive relationship between optimism and subjective well-being, that is, the higher the level of optimism, the greater the subjective well-being.
