MOROCCAN FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IN ECOWAS: A VIEW TO THE FUTURE
Abstract
One of the economic problems of developing and undeveloped countries is that they do not have enough national savings to finance their investments; hence, they need to attract more of FDI. For this purpose, regional integrations are more successful in attracting FDI than others, while they lead to attract extra-regional and inter-regional FDI inflows (for instance ECOWAS in Africa). Morocco as one of the most developed countries in Africa has an interest to join the community (ECOWAS). In this context, this paper seeks to determine the weight of Moroccan FDI in ECOWAS and then analyze the effects of its FDI in this region, which they may positively effect on human and social development thus contribute to realize the joining of Morocco to ECOWAS.
