This text presents the outcomes of a research involving theatrical staging processes in Basic Education. Its empirically based on a pedagogical experience developed in an Art-Theater course with elementary school students in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, configured as an action research and developed from theatrical staging projects proposed during the classes. As points of departures for a reflection on the pedagogical and artistic experiences of these processes, certain aspects of theater-making in the school environment are highlighted, namely: the relations between process and product in the construction of the theatrical knowledge; the idea of sharing artistic creation as inherent in the theatrical practice; and the eminently investigative aspect of theater creation - which is related to its experimental condition. The reflection is based on references from the field of Performing Pedagogy, such as Koudela and Almeida Junior (2015), Mendonça (2013), Desgranges (2012) and Pupo (2009) - among others authors within the field of Theater Studies, as Dubatti (2003), and authors within the field of Education, as Becker (2017). The aim of the present text is to ponder on the presence of theater in school education in order to bring its practice closer to scenic forms reproduced today. Keywords Performing Pedagogy. Basic Education. Artistic Experience. Process and Product. Knowledge.
