Sustainable approach to manage solid waste through biochar assisted composting

Abstract

Over the past several years, substantial studies have been conducted for the analysis of the impact of biochar application on the composting of organic solid waste. Essentially, the environmental benefits achieved through the organic waste compositing process due to the use of biochar in it have been assessed thoroughly. This paper deal with the agronomic roles of biochar utilised as a compost supplement as well as for soil improvement and highlights the assessment of biochar benefits. Furthermore, the review also focuses on biochar's positive effect on the humification process which enhances the quality and maturity of the final compost. Although biochar has proven to have numerous potential applications, further research and in-depth analysis is required to provide enriched understanding about its long-term effect on the environmental and the agronomical font.
