Abstract

The article discusses a comprehensive professional profile of amodern university professor in Russia with his various and interrelated teaching, research and educational responsibilities. The author endorses the view that the training of new teaching staff is extremely important and constitutes the backbone of any institution of higher education. The author believes that high quality programmes for professional development of university professors and administrators are essential for further successful development of higher education.
