Investigating the Relation between Human Resources and Strategic Thinking in Military Organizations

In the current era, military organizations often work in tense environments with high-speed changes. Therefore, in order to realize their ultimate goal of creating security, these organizations first need to continuously monitor the strategic environment, identify and recognize the opportunities and threats of potential and actual enemies, and then adopt wise strategies and decisions; This approach is known as strategic thinking. In other words, strategic thinking for military units has become an indispensable necessity in a wider sense than the business domain. Issue play a key role in the realization of human resource flexibility. This study aimed to survey the relationship between human resource flexibility and strategic thinking. This applied study from the perspective of the relations between the variables classifies among the causal researches. The statistical population of the present research includes senior managers and commanders of the commanding headquarters of one of the four forces of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran which includes 85 individuals. Because of the limited number of respondents, all individuals have been considered as a sample. For human resource flexibility Wright and Snell questionnaire and for strategic thinking questionnaire made by researchers, was used. The validity questioners have been investigated according to the opinions of the experts and elites (face validity) and also factor analysis (Matches questions with construct). The reliability of the questioners has also been confirmed and acknowledged by using Cronbach’s alpha test. The results showed that there is a significant positive correlation between human resource flexibility and strategic thinking.
