An adequate planning of invasion sports at school age requires an optimal choice of External Training Loads (eTL). Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze, according to the genre of pre-service teachers, the eTL of the tasks designed for the teaching of handball in relation to each part of the session: animation, fundamental part and return to calm. A total of 926 tasks have been classified by 18 pre-service teachers through the Integral System for Training Tasks Analysis (SIATE). The eTL of the tasks has been assessed through six variables: degree of opposition, density of the task, percentage of simultaneous performers, competitive load, game area and cognitive involvement. Descriptive and inferential analysis were performed through Mann-Whitney U test. In addition, the size of the effect was calculated by Cohen’s d. The results show that both male and female tend to plan with the same eTL (p>.05), except in the animation part where female tend to plan with higher eTL (p<.05) due to use of a greater frequency of tasks of a playful nature.
