Boucaios est-il un nom propre ou un nom commun ? (Théocrite, Nicandre, Posidippe)

Abstract

Tradition takes it for granted that one of the characters in idyll X is called Boucaios. This paper aims to highlight that reading this term as an anthroponym is not obvious and raises many questions. It is a question here of re-examining the various problems posed by the interpretation of the word Boucaios in all its complexity.
