The Impact Of Economic Environment On The Size Of Retail Market In Vietnam
Abstract
In the period of global economic integration, Vietnam's retail market has grown significantly. Growth of local retail market size has been maintained at a high level compared with that of other countries in the ASEAN region for a long period. The driving force behind this growth is the positive impact of the economic environment in the country. By means of collecting the macroeconomic data from 1990 to 2014 and using multivariate linear regression method with time -series data, cointegration theory and error correction model, the research analyzed the relationship between some elements of the economic environment and the size of the retail market. The results showed that in recent time, the growth of the retail market size for about 90 million people in Vietnam has been affected mainly by the consumer income and the inflation level of the economy. Therefore, maintaining economic growth along with controlling inflation and population growth is the key factor for the sustainable development of the retail market in Vietnam
