Research of Suicide Rates for OECD Members Countries: A Cluster Analysis Work

Suicide has become one of the most important issues psychiatrists and psychologists are interested in, especially in our century. In the last 45 years, the rate of suicide in the world has increased by 60% and in 2020, the number of suicide deaths is expected to reach 1.5 million. Suicide varies according to variables. To summarize all possible causes under a few headings, biological and genetic, psychological and social, socio-demographic causes, physical diseases, psychiatric disorders. In this study, 36 countries, which are members of the OECD (Economic Cooperation and development organization), were tried to analyze the situation of 36 countries by using the clustering analysis K-Means method using suicide rates, GNI coefficient, unemployment rates according to countries in 2016. As a result of the analyses 36 countries were divided into 6 clusters.
