Metaphors, Images, and Correlations. “Architecture, in Theory” by J. F. Liernur and the Problem of Demarcation

Abstract

The aim of this paper was to observe in the book “Architecture, in Theory” the working method of J. F. Liernur, a researcher of the National Council on Scientific and Technical Research who claimed “History is not a Science because you have to speculate”. The results showed: lack of scientific researches as support of his reflections; low peer reviews; low literature review; correlations between properties but not searching causes, mechanism or detailed explanations; use of concepts from different disciplines without delimiting its interpretation or application from his task: a swing between a pseudocientific method and a non scientific one.
