Supply chain management in agri-food processing enterprises

Objectives The paper presents some technical and organizational solutions in supply chain in Polish agribusiness enterprises. Material and methods The survey was conducted on the agri-food companies. The amount of the sent questionnaires reached 10 thousand; 507 companies have responded to the survey (5.07%). The level of logistics organizations in selected areas were evaluated depending on the branch of agribusiness firms. The companies were classified as processing meat, milk, fruit and vegetables, cereals. Results The most advanced solutions in logistics have large and medium-sized agribusiness enterprises, which include mostly to the existence of separate departments of logistics, the most use of transport services and the most commonly used integrated IT solutions. Conclusions The analysis shows that the scope and level of applied logistics solutions in agribusiness enterprises is very diverse. The proper organization of the logistics processes in Polish agribusiness companies, suitable for the particular sector, may undoubtedly improve the competitiveness among the companies by optimization of costs, as well as offering a higher level of customer service.
