The article is devoted to identifying the role of physical culture and sports in strengthening and maintaining the health of students through the activation of their personal qualities, the formation of a value-motivational attitude towards a healthy lifestyle, and an increase in motor activity. The article convincingly proves that in modern conditions the development of many moral and value qualities of students, including their relationship to a healthy lifestyle and lifestyle, is possible through regular holding of specially organized sports and recreation and sports events in as part of educational organization, and in the process of intercollegiate competitions. It is necessary to take into account the fact that in many young people today there is a predominance of the emotional sphere over the volitional sphere, which, in turn, provokes emotional inconsistency, irritability, and sometimes hostility. Since the life experience of students, especially at 1-2 courses is insufficient, they are characterized by a tendency to self-affirmation, to show their independence. Based on these considerations, the author concludes that for a more successful organization of the process of forming the volitional sphere of students by means of physical culture, it is necessary to include each student in all sports and recreational and sports events, starting with the preparatory stage, and ending with summarizing the results of these events. . The high socio-pedagogical and valeological significance of physical culture and sports in shaping the volitional sphere of students predetermined interest in these problems, and a deep scientific and pedagogical analysis of existing research has shown that the potential of physical culture is not sufficiently used to develop the volitional qualities of students as a necessary personal human qualities.
