MAGNETITE FROM COASTAL DEPOZITS OF BLACK AND AZOV SEAS

Abstract

The article contains information about the nature of distribution and the mineral composition of modern coastal-marine deposits of the Black Sea and Sea of Azov. The following main types of placers are distinguished: ilmenite rutile zircon, sometimes with a mixture of monazite; magnetite-titanomagnetite with zircon and ilmenite; garnet-magnetite and magnetite. The results of mineralogical and geochemical studies of magnetites from major placers and placer occurrences are presented.
