Active and Passive Security in Vehicles
Abstract
Abstract With the increase in the use of vehicles for daily transportation by most people, the rate of accidents has also increased. Since the existence of vehicles, safety systems have been a vital issue2 and has always been taken into account – from the most basic and primary systems such as lighting, which has continuously evolved from just providing greater safety and comfort, to more advanced systems such as the combined use of the stability control system (ABS) and the lateral slide control (ESP). The safety of a car is determined from different but complementary points of view, which include the aspects of preventing and limiting damages in case of an accident for the vehicle and, primarily, for the driver and the passengers. It contemplates the two security systems: preventive and accident security, where primary (active) safety, secondary (passive), and tertiary security are contemplated.
