Abstract
Rongrong Liu et al. find that Hantaan virus, a common cause of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in China, can infect CD8+ T cells and that these cells can support the full viral replication cycle. They also see an association between CD8+ T cells infection and disease progression in HFRS patients.
