Digital-based Gamad music learning

Abstract

Gamad music is a traditional art found in Padang City which is spread in various regions in West Sumatra. Usually Gamad music is learned based on oral tradition, currently the oral learning system is an obstacle in transferring knowledge from generation to generation, so the use of digital technology in the learning process can help achieve learning objectives in Gamad music. This article aims to describe the results of research on digitalbased Gamad music learning at the college level using software and YouTube media. The research method uses qualitative descriptive data. Data collection techniques are carried out by means of observation, documentation, and interviews. The results of the study concluded that using software and YouTube media in learning Gamad music can accelerate students in knowing, understanding and playing gamad music. Although Gamad music playing by students is still simple, because Gamad music playing is very complex.
