M2-polarized macrophages and interleukin (IL)-6 significantly alter the tumor microenvironment and promote the malignant behaviors of tumor cells. This study aimed to establish M2-type macrophages from THP-1 cells, which are human leukemia monocytes, and investigate the significance of toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) signaling in IL-6 production.
