This article introduces current developments in cognitive linguistics, presenting some principles which link cognition, language and interaction in utterances. Some descriptive procedures are also introduced, which allow analysts to explain how linguistic and discursive forms are based on broad and general cognitive processes, of which language is an integral part, as a means of expression and the sharing of knowledge among men.
