The Effect of Teaching Using the Six Thinking Hats on Academic Achievement and Attitudes towards Mathematics for Sixth Graders in Jordan
Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effect of teaching using the six thinking hats on academic achievement and attitudes towards Mathematics of six graders in Jordan. The sample of the study consisted of (52) male students of the six grade selected by the intentional method who were randomly divided into two groups. Experimental group studied through a teaching study based on the six thinking hats. The other was the control group; receiving teaching through the traditional method. The results of the study showed that there are significant differences between the two groups, developing academic achievement and attitudes toward mathematics, in favor of the experimental group. In light of the results of the study and their discussion which revealed that there is an effect of the six thinking hats on achievement and attitudes towards mathematics, the researchers recommend emphasizing the use of the six thinking hats in teaching mathematics and other subjects and saving a supportive and encouraging educational environment for teachers to use the six thinking hats.
