Highlights • Gender, childlessness, having one child, and multi-parity had different impacts on HTN. • The increased risk of HTN was observed among females aged 40-50y with 1 child, 2 and ≥ 3 children compared to females with no child. • In females aged 50-60y with 2 and ≥ 3 children, and in females aged 60-70y with ≥ 3 children the risk of HTN increased compared those without children. • In males aged 30-40y with 2 children compared to the no-child group the risk of HTN increased.
