HEPATIC SPLENOSIS
Abstract
Splenosis refers to the heterotopic autotransplantation of the splenic tissue and no treatment is necessary for it when the patient is asymptomatic. Although, intrahepatic splenosis represents an extremely rare condition, this diagnosis should always be taken into account in patients with case history of abdominal trauma, with splenic involvement, presenting an isolated liver lesion. Moreover, the 99mTc-labeled heat-denatured red blood cell scintigraphy can avoid unnecessary interventions such as angiography and surgical resections.
