A Metaanalysıs To Determıne The Level Of Physıcal and Verbal Vıolence Agaınst Physıcıans In Turkey
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Violence against physicians is a major problem worldwide. The aim of this research is to determine the level of physical and verbal violence against physicians in Turkey by means of meta-analysis. METHODS: Research within the scope of physical violence and verbal violence against doctors in Turkey between the years 2000-2019 that examined the systematic screening studies have been conducted in accordance with the strategy literature. Quality evaluation was performed in the study and the studies were analyzed with meta-analysis method. Cochrane Q statistic and I² were calculated to assess whether the results of the study were heterogeneous. In the meta-analysis, the random effects model and Fisher z statistics were used as the effect type. The publication bias funnel graph was analyzed with Egger's linear regression test and Begg and Mazumdar rank correlation statistics. RESULTS: In the framework of the PRISMA flow diagram, the results of the study were shown by 18 plot for physical violence and 17 for meta-analysis by forest plot. In the study conducted with random effects model, physical violence score was 0.08 (CI; 0.05-0.13; p <0.05) and verbal severity score was 0.52 (CI; 0.43-0.60; p <0.05). was determined. In order to determine the publication, the scatterings in the funnel graph were examined and there was no publication bias according to the Egger's linear regression test, Begg and Mazumdar rank correlation statistics. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The level of physical violence against physicians was found to be quite low compared to verbal violence. In addition, physical and verbal violence plays a moderator role in the status of the article or thesis. However, it was found that the studies conducted in the cities of Ankara and Istanbul play a moderator role in physical violence, whereas it does not play a moderator role in verbal violence.
