La storia della Cina per il grande schermo. Il caso di My People, My Country (2019)
Abstract
In China, propaganda films are produced to celebrate anniversaries and patriotic occasions, through which the Chinese state media aims to strengthen the national image and popular consensus. This paper analyzes My People, My Country (Wo he wo de zuguo 我和我的祖国, 2019), the celebratory film of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Through the application of an integrated methodology of Sinology and media studies, the film storytelling is here investigated. The purpose is to point out the narration and (re)construction of China’s history, as presented to the Chinese public on the big screen.
