Chronic Pain and Disability in Organizations: It’s Time to Pay Attention to Work and Workers
Abstract
Statistics show that more than half of the adult Canadians with chronic pain stay in the workforce. Moreover, work and pain have a very complex relationship. Despite the prevalence rates and the relevance of work in the context of pain, very little research exists on this topic. In this editorial, I will (1) review the chronic pain and work literature briefly, (2) argue for more pain-related research on the experiences of full-time employees, and (3) invite management and pain researchers to collaborate.
