Les ruines sont-elles nécessaires ?

Abstract

Archaeology has to face the ruins, any kind of the traces of the successive human cultures. From the beginning of what is called antiquarianism, preservation of the relics of the past is a moral and scientific necessity. This paper tends to explore the various dimensions of the notion of ruins in relation to our modern vision of the past.
