Induction generators are widely used for hydro power generation as they are both economical and durable. Accurate temperature prediction is important for induction generators because temperature has a large impact on durability and efficiency. In this study, the temperature characteristics of an induction generator, according to the stator loss distribution, were analyzed and verified through experiments. The no-load analysis and the core loss analysis of the induction generator were carried out, and the core losses were distributed to each element for thermal analysis. The experiments were conducted under the no-load condition, and the thermal analysis was performed by applying the natural convection conditions. It was confirmed that the individual component-wise thermal analysis was more suitable for the thermal analysis considering the loss distribution.
