Abstract

Lifelong learning has become an essential strat­egy for adapting to the complex demands of the knowledge economy. It helps individuals continu­ously develop their competencies and skills to adapt rapidly to technological and economic change. The article has two main goals. First, it explains the con­ceptual meanings of lifelong learning, its evolution stages, and how it has been integrated into Euro­pean and international policies and strategies. Sec­ond, it uses data from the ‘Adult Education Survey’ (AES), available through the Eurostat Data Browser platform, to explore Romania’s situation in terms of lifelong learning compared to other European Union countries and analyze data trends in adult education and lifelong learning from 2007 until 2022.
