In June 2013, the Naga Project, which was under the aegis of the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung in Berlin, was taken over by the Staatliches Museum Ägyptischer Kunst (in Munich. Professor Dietrich Wildung (scientific director) and Doctor Karla Kröper (field director) are directing the excavations in Sudan. This article aims to provide a brief overview of the discovery of Naga: the site itself; the excavations of the last few years, the current digs and the future objectives of the project.
