This article proposes an interpretation on the construction of tradition in argentine print, about its conventions, the positioning of some paradigmatic artists and the spaces of visibility which operated in the configuration of its canon during the first decades of the XXth Century. In the process of defining the discipline, the functions and uses of the graphic image, some procedures were highlighted and some particular names stood out. In terms of selective tradition, these initial references shaped that canon. Thus, this work considers the problem of technique and iconographic resources and their insertion in circulation networks as factors that, jointly and mutually involved, converged to support this tradition where print as social critique acquired a privileged role.
