Utilización de la hidroxiapatita en cirugía maxilofacial: Actualización bibliográfica
Abstract
Resumen: Se presenta una revisión de la literatura internacional actualizada, así como algunas experiencias en nuestro país sobre la actualización de la hidroxiapatita en diferentes afecciones maxilofaciales. Se exponen resultados muy relevantes con este material implantológico altamente compatible con el tejido óseo como en el aumento de rebordes alveolares atróficos, en la preservación de rebordes alveolares, en la cirugía ortognática, en la traumatología, en la cirugía de camuflaje y como relleno de zonas osteolíticas creadas por quistes y tumores. Se detallan los avances logrados en la implantalogía luego de aparecer este material después de la década de los 70, por las ventajas que ofrece a diferencia de otros materiales anteriormente utilizados.A review of updated international literature as well as some domestic experiences on the use of hydroxiapatite in different maxillofacial affections is presented. Very relevant results obtained from the use of this highly compatible implant material in the atropied alveolar ridge augmentations, the preservation of alveolar ridges, the orthognatic surgery, the traumatology, the camouflage surgery and the filling of osteolytic areas created by cysts and tumors are reflected. The advances made in the implanting technique upon the emergence of this material after the 70’s are detailed since hydroxiapatite provides differents from other used materials.
