This work presents a reflection on the question of language in Descartes. Language is considered to be the fundamental test that this philosopher establishes to differentiate humans from animals and to recognize the possession of a mind. In this sense, language is presented here as a fundamental element of ontological distinction in the philosophy of the French thinker and involves important questions about the nature of animals.
