Flexibility and health in students of the rehabilitation team
Abstract
Objective To describe the anthropometric characteristics, health habits and degree of flexibility to students in a university rehabilitation team of a public nature. Methods A descriptive study of 404 students enrolled in programs of physical therapy and speech therapy in the second half of 2008. The information was collected on a sheet constructed by the group, which were recorded anthropometric characteristics, healthy habits and testing "sit and reach" obtained from the study population. Results: The study found that a significant proportion of the population does not do physical activity or stretch. As for the results of "Sit and Reach Test" over 70% of the population has a poor test. Conclusions: Flexibility is one of the variables of physical fitness related to health and represents a fundamental factor for the performance of body and movement, whether in sports or performance patterns of daily life.
