Re-implantation of maxillary central incisor. Case report
Abstract
Dental avulsion is defined as the complete displacement of a tooth from its socket in the alveolar bone; It is considered one of the most traumatic dental injuries. Replantation of an avulsed tooth is an acceptable treatment. Reimplantation is understood as the reinsertion of a tooth, with living pulp or not, in its natural alveolus after having been extracted from it, either accidentally or intentionally. It is recommended to store the avulsed tooth as soon as possible and temporarily in a medium capable of preserving the viability of LPD3 cells. The use of alternative storage solutions, such as propolis, egg white, coconut water, has been recommended. However, milk could be considered as the most appropriate storage medium for avulsed teeth. The tooth can heal in two ways when managed correctly, through: periodontal healing and bone healing. The main objective of this study was to describe a clinical case of a patient suffering from this trauma and its treatment. It was a male patient, 30 years old, with a history of good health, who suffered a direct trauma to the tooth with the back of a drill, causing the avulsion of RE 1.1. He came to the clinic with the tooth in gauze, which was immediately placed in milk for reimplantation. In addition, the patient was sent drug treatment that includes antibiotics and anti-inflammatory. Patient follow-up is maintained.
