Expansão geográfica, fronteira e regionalização: a região de Carajás

Abstract

The article discusses the fundamentals of geographic expansion and spatial reorganization, pointing out that the production of the Amazon frontier is their product. It indicates that social groups with diverse economic and political power carry out spatial appropriation selectively at the border, regionalizing it. Context in which, it presents methodological paths for of space production, segmentation and, finally, based on them, it points out historical-geographical specificities that allow to consider that, in the second half of the 1980s, evidence of the constitution of the constitution of territorial shape of the Carajás region was consolidated.
