The article addresses the main political aspects of German–American relations after the election of J. Biden for US presidency. It stresses the crucial topics of the transatlantic agenda of both the government of Angela Merkel and the new coalition headed by Olaf Scholz, assuming the willingness of all parties to restore the transatlantic partnership damaged by the previous US Trump administration. The author analyses the core essence of the bilateral agreements, taken in July 2021 in Washington regarding the primacy of a value-based foreign policy and the conditions for launching the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The article reflects the position of the new German government after the Bundestag election and pays a special attention to the contacts of both governments with regard to the Ukrainian «crisis» in January-February 2022.
