Massetric hypertrophy is a benign increase in the size of the masseter muscle. It produces facial asymmetry and is an important finding in the differential diagnosis of similarly located entities. The aim of this article is to report 2 cases of bilateral massetric hypertrophy. The characteristics and diagnostic features of such changes, the specialized imaging modalities used for diagnosis and options for treatment are presented. A proper diagnosis of this condition would avoid more aggressive and unwarranted therapy by an inexperienced clinician who may mistake it for a more serious pathologic condition.
