Energy content of the diets is the major factor that affect feed intake in poultry. Fats and oils are the most concentrated sources of energy, but also those from which the availability and, therefore, the metabolizable energy content show the greatest variation (Blanch et al., 1996). This variation is influenced by several factors as saturated and unsaturated fatty acids ratio (Vilà et al., 1996a, Castrovilli et al., 1994) and percentage of free fatty acids (Vilà et al., 1996b).
