It is noted that patient safety means minimizing the risk of unnecessary harm associated with the provision of medical care. The acceptable minimum refers to collective perceptions of current knowledge, available resources, and the context in which care was provided, and is compared to the risk of no treatment or alternative treatment. The problem of ensuring the level of quality and safe provision of medical services is one of the important principles of providing medical care. At this time, the countries of the world have accumulated considerable experience on many issues of the quality of medical care: nomenclature of the equipment of medical institutions has been developed, systems of improvement of medical personnel with their periodic certification have been created, examination of the quality of medical care has been organized, etc. Reducing the implementation gap is possible with a change in the management paradigm. Such changes should affect the development of the informatization of the health care system, risk management, and standardization. Informatization of the health care system will allow to increase the efficiency of rational distribution and use of available resources, implementation of innovative approaches, methods of providing medical care. The risk management system will make it possible to identify problems and threats in a timely manner for making timely and effective management decisions in order to neutralize them. Standardization of conditions, processes, results in the health care system allows to ensure a high-quality level of medical care in all regions of the country.
