Strategic management and new museology. Proposals to promote the museums´ activity in Bahía Blanca city, Argentina
Abstract
The purpose of this document is to make known the possible actions to be carried out in four museums of the city of Bahía Blanca, both public and private; in order to improve their efforts. The same will be sought by means of the application of concepts of the new museology, the prospective strategy, the joint and associative activities. It seeks to improve the management of museums, with the ultimate goal of promoting cultural tourism in the city. The methodology was built from basic theoretical concepts; cultural tourism, museology and the new museology. Primary information based on interviews with the directors of museums was collected. From diagnosis and analysis developed throughout this investigation, there is evidence that Bahia Blanca has several museums of unique importance and implementing activities related to the new museology could contribute both to the improvement of the museums growth and the tourism development of the city.
