Abstract Photodynamic therapy (PDT) for deep-seated lesion is seriously hindered by the limited depth of visible light penetration. Most recently, researchers have designed a genetically-encoded NanoLuc-miniSOG with internal light source for self-excitation, which is highly beneficial for deep PDT.
